Carta a Teresinka Pereira

Escribir el nombre del destinatario es un puente de palabras,

una misiva abierta al horizonte que se transforma en historia

o papel mojado en todas las lenguas posibles.

Recibo querida poeta y señora de los telares

tu correspondencia de ave empecinada en sostener el aire

libre de broza y denunciar la podredumbre del nuevo milenio.

Pernoctas en países extraños con las fórmulas

que toda letra permite entre palabras cercanas

para que lo humano se mantenga como saludo de amistad.

¡Hola poeta!

¿En qué verso transita hoy tu soledad de bandera?

La resistencia es una trinchera de palabras para el alma,

ungüentos para la piel amarga que nos habita.

El taller poético donde reparamos los huesos hurtados

a la tierra, conserva frases de recambio,

aceleradores de mensajes por milésimas,

barcos con misiles de acentos y puntos suspensivos.

Ya ganamos la batalla, ahora corresponde la receta del premio:

cada ocho horas un poema respiratorio y

antes de soñar un masaje ligero con las manos del verso.

THE AMERICAN SUITCASE OF THEPRIZE

Letter to Teresinka Pereira

Writing the name of the recipient is a bridge of words,

a missive open to the horizon that becomes history

or wet paper in all possible languages.

I receive dear poet and mistress of the looms

your correspondence of a bird determined to hold the air

free from rubbish and denounce the rottenness of the new millennium.

Overnight in strange countries with the formulas

that every letter allows between nearby words

so that the human remains as a greeting of friendship.

Hello poet!

In what verse does your loneliness of flag travel today?

Resistance is a trench of words for the soul,

ointments for the bitter skin that inhabits us.

The poetic workshop where we repair stolen bones

down to earth, keep spare phrases,

accelerators of messages by thousandths,

ships with missile of accents and ellipsis.

We have already won the battle, now corresponds the recipe of the prize:

every eight hours a respiratory poem and

before dreaming a light massage with the hands of the verse.

CUMPLIR 56 AÑOS

Cumplir con plata en las sienes y en la cartera te autorizan:

¡¡Todos los días amo, escribo y olvido!!

Fue recitando la tabla de multiplicar, que aprendí a cantar.

Fue jugando al fútbol y al ajedrez, que aprendí a mentir.

Al cumplir los catorce años le gané a la pobreza y obtuve

de premio una beca. Trabajo y estudio son yunta de la vida.

Con dos amores en el zurrón jugaba quinielas cada semana.

Con 28 años era médico, campeón del barrio en amistades,

diestro con el delantal y certero con la bata cuando descubrí

el Grupo Cero. Ahí comenzó mi poética formación:

la vuelta al mundo di con la primera interpretación

y se inauguró la alegría por cumplir.

Al pasar del siglo, con los 42 abriles cumplidos, alcancé

los requisitos del no hay dos sin tres, para deletrear tu nombre

y abrazar cada cuerpo con la minúscula sombra de una vocal.

A los biógrafos les preguntaré por ejemplo:

¿Saben que el hombre tiene labios de mujer? ¿Alguna vez

sostuvieron millones de almas sobre un punto de penalti?

A los muertos les inventaré mil recuerdos:

cuando un gol en Chamartín llegaba a mi ventana o aquella

primera vez, cuando a hombros de mi padre,

en el Metropolitano escuché: !!Atleti, Atleti!!

Cincuenta y seis golondrinas aletean en todas direcciones

los corredores de la memoria cuando la canción no miente

¡Todos los días amo, escribo y olvido!

TURNING 56 YEARS OLD

Reaching with silver at the temples and in the wallet you are authorized:

Every day I love, write and forget!!

It was by reciting the multiplication table that I learned to sing.

It was by playing football and chess that I learned to lie.

When I turned fourteen I beat poverty and I got

as an award a scholarship. Work and study are pair of life.

With two loves in the leather pouch I played pools every week.

At 28 I was a doctor, a neighbourhood champion in friendships,

right-handed with the apron and right with the robe when I discovered

the Grupo Cero. There my poetic training began:

around the world I went with the first interpretation

and the joy started to fulfil.

As the century passed, with 42 Aprils fulfilled, I reached

the requirements of everything happens in threes, to spell your name

and embrace each body with the tiny shadow of a vowel.

I will ask biographers for example:

Do you know that a man has the lips of a woman? Do you ever

held millions of souls over a penalty spot?

I will invent a thousand memories for the dead:

when a goal in Chamartín reached my window or that one

first time, when on the shoulders of my father,

in the Metropolitan I heard: !! Atleti, Atleti !!

Fifty-six swallows flap in all directions

the corridors of memory when the song doesn't lie
