LA ENFERMEDAD NO ES LO OPUESTO A LA SALUD
Retomando los criterios médicos se muestra la enfermedad más emparentada a nociones sanitarias (prevención y tratamiento de lo infecto-contagioso, alimentación, vacunas, accidentes….) que a la producción de salud. Otra acepción más conocida de sanidad, hace referencia a la “cualidad” de sano o saludable, apoyadas en el conjunto de servicios gubernativos ordenados para preservar la salud pública de una nación. Las actualmente llamadas ciencias de la salud estudian el desorden, la patología y la prevención de enfermedad, como el modo de alcanzar la salud. Siendo la enfermedad el objeto de estudio que dirige la salud.
Queremos aportar en este capítulo algunas reflexiones para pensar la salud de la población en general y en especial la salud de los estudiantes, futuros trabajadores, de las ciencias de la salud. Y partimos para ello, no de la enfermedad, sino desde otros conceptos, como “la Producción de lo nuevo”.
Mitigar, aliviar o curar lo que pasó, la enfermedad, es el objeto de la medicina. Construir lo nunca sido es el objeto del psicoanálisis.
Según Aldous Huxley, “la investigación de las enfermedades ha avanzado tanto que cada vez es más difícil encontrar a alguien que esté completamente sano”.
Los conceptos de salud y enfermedad han ido variando con el paso del tiempo, pero rescatemos una curiosidad que puede ayudarnos en nuestro cometido, ya que ambos términos proceden del latín. Enfermedad viene de INFIRMITAS, que significa “falto de firmeza” y salud proviene de SALUS, literalmente “salvación o saludo”.
En medicina, salud y enfermedad se piensan y estudian como términos antagónicos, entonces la salud sería la ausencia de enfermedad y si fuera así en un sujeto con una enfermedad orgánica (una diabetes mellitas, una hipertensión por ejemplo) no existiría posibilidad alguna de salud, mientras persista la enfermedad, o para una persona con una enfermedad congénita (un síndrome de Down) la salud será un imposible.

ILLNESS IS NOT THE OPPOSITE OF HEALTH
Going back to medical criteria, it is shown that disease is more closely related to health notions (prevention and treatment of the infectious-contagious, food, vaccines, accidents ...) than to the production of health. Another better-known definition of health refers to the "quality" of health, supported by the set of government services ordered in order to preserve the public health of a nation. The currently called health sciences study disorder, pathology and disease prevention, as the way to achieve health. Being the disease the object of study that directs health.
We want to contribute in this chapter some reflections to think in the general health of the population and especially about the health of students, future workers, of the health sciences. And we start for this, not from disease, but from other concepts, such as “the Production of the new”.

The concepts of health and disease have varied over time, but let's rescue a curiosity that can help us in our mission, since both terms come from Latin. Disease comes from INFIRMITAS, which means "lacking firmness" and health comes from SALUS, literally "salvation or regard".
In medicine, health and disease are thought and studied as antagonistic terms, then health would be the absence of disease and if this were the case in a subject with an organic disease (diabetes mellitus, hypertension for example) there would be no possibility of health, as long as the disease persists, or for a person with a congenital disease (Down syndrome), health will be impossible.
